Therapeutic Riding Lesson Volunteer — Help Children and Adults Thrive Through Horses. Join NDR Therapeutic Riding and make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and adults with disabilities. Lesson volunteers work alongside our instructors to prepare and tack horses, assist participants, and walk with horses during mounted lessons. No previous experience is required. Training and guidance are provided. Volunteers gain hands-on experience with horses while helping participants build confidence, strength, communication skills, independence, and meaningful connections. If you are dependable, compassionate, comfortable working around horses, and looking for a rewarding way to serve your community, we would love to welcome you to the NDR team!
Volunteer roles
Side-walker
Walk beside the rider, offering steady support and encouragement.
Horse leader
Guide our gentle therapy horses through the arena (training provided).
Barn helper
Help with grooming, tacking, cleaning stalls, and herd care.
Events & admin
Support fundraisers, tours, photography, and behind-the-scenes work.

Minimum age
14 years of age or older
Time commitment
Flexible. Commitment Details: NDR would like to have an 8-to-12-week commitment
Available times
Weekdays (daytime), Weekends (daytime)
Hours open
Tuesday-8:00am to 6:00pm, Wednesday-1:00pm to 5;00pm, Thursday-8:00am to 6:00pm, Friday-8:00am to 6:00pm, Saturday-8:00am to 12:30pm.
Physical requirement
Volunteers must be able to walk for at least 1 hour and walk on uneven ground or surfaces. Ranch Setting.
Orientation training
