The Story of How NDR Therapeutic Riding Began

NDR Therapeutic Riding is located at “No Drama Ranch” in Norco, CA. NDR Therapeutic Riding originated in 2010 when Peppermint Ridge, a large residential facility for individuals with intellectual disabilities in Corona, CA, asked the owners of No Drama Ranch, Joe and Donna Hyde, to develop a therapeutic adaptive riding program.

Realizing the huge need, the Hyde’s accepted the challenge. Donna Hyde became an instructor through the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship (PATH). She is certified as both a PATH Instructor and in PATH Mental Health and Learning. Donna obtained additional certification through Equine-Assisted Growth and Learning Association (EAGALA) for Equine-Assisted Activities. Donna has been providing therapeutic adaptive horsemanship and other equine-assisted activities ever since to “Ridge Riders” and other participants ages 4 and up!

We provide a safe environment

Safety First!

NDR Therapeutic Riding provides a very safe, warm and organic environment. Our primary focus is to provide quality service and care for each participant. Every participant is required to wear a helmet and gait belt. Gait belts can supply additional support and safety ultimately preventing potential fall or injury. All NDR volunteers receive in-depth safety training to enhance their ability to assist each participant.

Additional training is provided to aid volunteers to be aware of rules for working around horses for their own safety and wellbeing.

NDR also utilizes several adaptive tools (color coded reins, saddles/stirrups, permanent two-sided mounting platform and lift system) to assist participants in safely optimizing their individualized goals.
